The Best Part of Me

Image
Students in the grade 4/5 classes have been learning about what "good writing" looks like. We created a success criteria checklist to discuss what is important in ALL of our writing.  To introduce this checklist, we went through the activity "The Best Part of Me". Students were exposed to a variety of different poems. We then discussed the success criteria and looked at poems that followed our success criteria and poems that did not follow our success criteria. Students were then asked to pick their favourite part of themselves, plan and write their poem, always checking back to their success criteria.
